Looking to instal LS and exhaust, looking for a shop

Hello All

2001 F150 XL (7700) 4x2
White
Tow package
LINEX liner

Bought her new, have 6700mi with no trouble until now; between 50 an 55 mph or so the tranny shifts in and out of OD with steady accelerator position?

I was thinking about trading her in for a new F150 4x4 especially after we got my wife a 2004 Tiatan LE 4x4 just about fully loaded, but I like my 7700 and with a few upgrades she will be fine.
  • Looking to add a limited slip rear, Eaton maybe. Who makes a good LS for my truck?
  • New rims, nothing to flashy: any recommendations for 7 lugers?
  • Some all-terrain tires, any suggestions?
  • New exhaust; some rumble but not to loud; any recommendations?
  • Air intake mod?
  • New seats up front, that bench is killing me; How hard is it to change out the bench with something better from the bone yard?
  • New sterio, stock cassette
  • Tune-up, change all fluids and a good wash after the mud dries.
Can ayone recommend a shop that can install the LS and the exhaust, I am up on the Northern Neck but work in Portsmouth anything between will work.

Take care,
John

I wish I could help. I don't send my truck out for shop work, I'm too cheap

2 quick things though.

-Tires, I would go with BFG All-terrains. I have 31" BFG's, 3 years, 35,000 miles later and still have about 50% tread left. They ride nice, and have a nice drone at speed

-Check out a Trac-loc. Its a small "locker" that replaces the spider gears in your carrier.

I'm sure someone here will be able to recomend a shop. For the rest of your questions, I would try posting this in the 1997-2003 forum.

Glad to have you around, welcome to FTE

Thanks Steve

I will check out the Trac-loc and the BFG's.

Can you tell me more about the Trac-loc?

Thanks,
John

My memory scares me sometimes

I'm thinking of a Lock-Right.

Check it out HERE. Its a pretty good write up of what it does, and how it installs.

well trac-lok is ford's limited slip, has friction disks' and metal disks sandwiched behind the spider gears, then an S spring behind it. but the whole carrier needs replacing. Lock Right is one option.
