the truck is a 91 b2200 ex-cab. when you first start it up it pours out a thick cloud of smoke. I smelled the cloud and it's oil. it stops smoking when it gets warmed up. is this the valve guides and seals leaking oil after shut down?? this is the carbed 2.2L engine. I need to know if the repairs can be done at home or is there an additive to stop/slow the leak until i get the funds to have a shop redo a head for me.
I assume it's blue smoke? The best way to tell if it's valve guides or rings is to do a compression check, then squirt some oil in the plug holes and do another check. If the readings come up, the rings are worn; if not, it's the guides.
