7.3L powerstroke vs 6.0L powerstroke

Ok, im sure this has been answered before but I cant find exactly what im looking for. I have a 2001 7.3L powerstroke and I absolutely love it, but it time to buy a new truck. I will probably look into something barely used, like an 04 or 03 6.0L diesel. My question is, will I like the 6.0L compared to the 7.3L? I do almost zero towing or anything, it will almost immediately get a proigrammer, intake and exhaust.

I drove a 6.0L diesel at the ford dealership and it was a lot different than my 7.3L, im sure it will just take some time to get used to it.

all in all, should I look for a used 03 7.3L instead, or will I like the 6.0L diesel?

I feel you will love the 6.0. The only real complaint there seems to be out there is the mileage for some people isn't as good with the 6.0. I personally get 18-19 with a stock truck. That is in the summer. But you will love the 6.0

I have both; a '97 7.3 & a '04 6.0. There is a huge difference in the two! If you like a "truck", stay with the 7.3. If you want a muscle car disguised as a truck, buy the 6.0.

Why is the 7.3 a "truck" and the 6.0 a "muscle car". Just curious. My dad and I each bought 2004 F350's with the 6.0 and we need them to be "trucks". Anything we should know???

truck

Well of course I want a truck, but i dont really haul much stuff, ill put a fourwheeler in the back or pull a 14ft trailer every once in a while, but nothing big at all. I have a bunch of buddies that went out and bought cummins diesels and have chips and stuff, and those suckers MOVE, theyll outrun my 7.3L diesel no contest (I do have a 6in lift and 37in tires on it). This is pretty much a play truck, not a workhorse.

There are some vehicles getting this kind of mileage, in reality (not by the overhead). Not many, but a few. Mine would get that, if you were easy on the throttle on the highway, before I started messing with it

Get the 6.0 - stay away from anything with an 03 or early 04 build date.

mine is a 3/03. zero problems. the problems with early 6.0's was lack of training at the dealer.

theres no need to bash the 03's. so very few were bad anyways. and there are less and less problems being reported as the tech's are finally learning how to fix these things
