.... How is your truck running/starting in this cold weather?? find yourself pluging her in alot?? I've been ok down to about 5*, anything colder and i plug her in for a couple hours.... what about you guys??? Have a good one!! stay warm!!

We really only had a 10 day span of weather under 20 degrees, and my truck was fine. In 2 years, I've never plugged her in. I'm sure its another story up in the north country. I was concerned about owning a Diesel, and having to plug in. It hasn't been an issue thus far.

 

We hit 4° degrees here a few weeks ago, and I had no problem starting her up. just let the glow plugs do thier work and the truck starts fine. Of course the diesel is very loud when it gets that cold.

 

Good 2 hear that yours are starting ok.... I just had to replace my vacuum pump on the 97. Thing konked out on me and i lost vacuum to the brakes... other that that the rig has been running strong!!!

 

Just replaced my GPR a few weeks ago, no more grey smoke now. Never had to plug her in, down to around 10 deg. I agree tho, they are quite loud at those temps.

Mine hasnt been so good this winter. I think its time for new glow plugs. Anything below 30 it smokes pretty bad without being plugged in. I think next weekend I might get to them. I also need injector o rings real soon, i am using up some serious oil lately. I figured while I have the valve covers off I could do both. This winter has been hard on my truck, its one thing after another.

 

Im in the North Country and the rusted out 87 350/6.9 4X4 has never been plugged in! Even a few weeks ago in the -20s the thing needed the GP warm-up and a turn of the key. Some rattling and smoke for a minute but nothing crazy.

 

Wow glad to hear it..... I don't plug mine in unless it gets down below 0.... just so i can have a little heat for defrost... but thats about it....

 

Sorry to hear that.... might want to check the GPR too, that might be the cause of the flow plugs not working... good luck!

 

I have bever plugged mine in yet this year F350 6.0 runs great but I am running the 5w-40 Rotella synthetic

 

This year is the first time I ever had to plug in mine. 2000 F-350 7.3 powerstroke.

 

Plug mine in when it's going to be below 0 acual temp or with windchill other than that have not had an issue. Always use power service white bottle when I fill up.

Is there any indication on the dash that the truck is plugged in? I'm sure that if there isn't, I would probably drive away with it still plugged in

 

Unfortunately there isn't, On my rig i back up the the garage and run the plug under it, over the driver's side mirror, then to the plug, so in the morning i will see the cord and remmember to unplug it.
