What max. p.s.i. does a typical Ford power steering pump create?

I'm interested in how many psi a Ford powersteering pump can create, at what rpm, and approx. how much power the pump draws. Also, do the pumps have built-in relief valves or are the relief valves in the steering box? I have a few projects in mind that could utilize hydraulic power and I am curious what these power steering pumps are capable of. Thanks, Jake

I would recommend against using the Ford pump. These things have an integral reserve, and if you are running a ram of any kind, it will drain this quickly. Also, they do not like being run low on fluid. I would use a pump from a japanese truck, as they use a remote reserve, and you can make it any size you want. They also produce more pressure at a lower rpm. I am rigging one off of my old Isuzu Trooper diesel to fit my 84 F-250, to power a hydraulic winch. Northern tool and equipment also has a wide variety of hydraulic pumps for different app's.

The Ford CII pump (F150-350, Bronco) flows 1.5 gallons/minute at 740 psi. The pressure relief is in the pump and set at 1400 to 1500 psi.

The Ford Saginaw pump (E100-350) flows 1.8 gallons/minute at 620 psi and its relief valve is set at 1350 to 1450 psi.

I know it would be sacrelige, but I have a serpentine belt driven P/S pump in a 90 G20 that has remote resivoir that might work on something like that.
