88 F150 302 Dipstick stuck
I have an 88 F150 4x4 302/AT and the dipstick is stuck. I was finally able to pull the stick out, but it won't go back in most likely due to rust and lack of use. My question is, how difficult is it to replace the tube and dipstick. It's 15 degrees outside today, so I haven't even looked at it. Do I need to do anything with the oil pan or exhaust manifold to replace it? All suggestions are welcomed.
thanks,
Mike

I've got a '90 w/ a 302 and all that holds the dipstick tube in place is one bolt that is common to the drivers side exhaust manifold. You might lose just a tad of oil when pull the tube out, but it certainly won't be much. The hardest thing on mine was weaving the tube back in after I replaced the exhaust man. Just loosen up the bolt and remove it, then pull the tube out. You shouldn't have to do anything with the oil pan or anything more than the one bolt on the manifold if its like mine was.
