I know this topic has been exhausted; however, I cannot find anything related to my specific truck. I need to find out what kind of tools I need and which way the nut turns and any helpful tips.

I believe that it is reverse thread and AutoZone rents the removal tool for free.

 

I used Channel locs to grip the smaller bolts on the pulley and a big cresent on the fan nut. Tapped the cresent a few times with a big hammer to break it loose. Worked real good. Saved me a couple of trips to the parts store to get and return the tool.

 

If you have some pipe or something similar laying around, you could make your own fan removal tool in about 15 minutes. You can take a look at the one I made here:
