ABS Light on 2001 Ranger

When my turn my fog lights on after a cold start, they started to flicker for some time, when they flicker off the BS light would come on and off. After truck warms up just the ABS flicker on and off any ideas?

Thanks

Yeah, If its a 2001 I would assume it is still under warranty. Take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

People who say it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

Flickering indidates a small short in the system or a bad switch/relay. It'll be a tough nut to crack ---- tracking down shorts is time consuming....

Kpayne: Thanks for the reply. Does this short cause any driving problems since I am unable to get to the garage for the next couple of weeks?
THanks

Take the truck to the dealership and tell them to fix it under the factory warranty. We had a similar problem with the 2001 Ranger we have at work. The light started flashing intermittently at first, and then stayed on whenever the engine was running. Didn't notice any driveabilty problems, though. We took it to the dealer, and found out a wire going into the clock spring was shorting out. Hasn't come on since then.

The problem you describe could be a faulty ground circuit. I am an industrial service tech and have seen a similar problem in older relay logic machines. When the ground or return circuit is broken then then the power will sometimes find another path to ground. When that new path is thru a relay coil the circuit will oscillate. In your case it flickers which could be the same type of oscillation.
