1984 351 Ho ?????
Hello all, I just became the proud owner of a 1984 F-150 with 60k original miles. It has a 5.8 ltr HO , What is the horsepower of this? Its 2 tone blue and silver, blue velor interior with wood panel (fake)doors, A/C , cruise control. I dont know yet if its a Xl or Xlt , any help??? After I get it home this weekend I'll try and post a pic!!! Thanks in advance for your help, Brian

XL or XLT tag will be mounted dead center of your dash console...won't be hard to miss. My 81 is an XLT, but missing some possible options from it's year, although I'm not missing power windows much as they tend to screw up more often than work. It does have a/c, dual tanks, and cruise control...good enough for me, along with being 4x4. Is it a Ranger, Explorer, Custom, or non-denoted cab package?(will be attached to the F150 tag on the side of the fender as to which)

You asked about HP numbers all the stock 5.8L's tend to be around 225hp, that's at the crank. The rear wheels see 170ish.

Here's the specs for the 351W's. The H.O. has 210HP@4000RPM.
engine specs
Sounds like an XLT P/U similar to my Bronco.

This thing is ok on the highway but wont get out of its own way around town! the drive home was 96 miles door to door, driven between 65-70 MPH maybe slightly more at times. I know its the 3.00 rear ,but come on!!!!! Changed the oil, pcv and air filters before the trip. It has a hole in the muffler, gotten larger after the good blow out trip home. The ex. appears to be stock all the way back, y pipe to single to muffler.Tranny fluid was a light pink . Seems like your getting going good and making power and it shifts !!! argh!!!!

Check to see if it has the original Holley 4180 4BBl carb. If properly tuned, you should be glued to your seat on take-off. I ended up replacing mine due to a worn out accelerator pump and massive gas leak, and it made all the difference. Also check for any vacuum leaks in amongst that spaghetti mess of vacuum lines in front of the carb. A tune-up may also be needed. Good luck!!!
