Question correct way to install brake light switch?

I have had problems getting my brake lights to work when depressing the brake pedal. I have had to resort to adding a spring tie wrapped to the switch and streched to the underside of the dash to keep tension on the switch. I have never seen the correct way to attach the brake switch with the correct bushing to make it work as soon as I touch the brake pedal. Can anyone show me the correct assembly of the brake rod and switch assembly? Thanks

It should have a small pin that goes through a hole into the pedal and mounts into it and is held in with a cotter key.
