1993 ranger help!
My friend has a 1993 2.3L ranger that just blew a head gasket. He is about to get a new truck, but before he does he wants to see what we can do to it.
Currently we have the head off and everything looks good. The cross-hatch is still on the cylinder bores after 100K+ miles, there seems to be little wear on the cylinder walls, etc.
I will be doing a home p/p job on the head and the intake, adding larger intake valves with a 3-angle valve job, shaving the head some to gain compression, using a thinner head gasket to raise compression and to get a better quench area, and adding a new aftermarket camshaft.
I really don't care what he HP/TQ was on that model, but I need to know the compression ratio, the gasket thickness, the piston valve relief cc, the piston compression height, and the head cc.
Can someone please tell me the compression ratio of the 93 ranger 2.3?
Also, I measured the thickness of the head gasket and got .046"... is this correct?
I also cc'd the pistons and found the valve reliefs to be .5cc... is this correct?
I've searched for piston comression height and get conflicting answers... can someone please tell me the stock compression height of these pistons as well?
I haven't cc'd the head yet because the old camshaft is still in there... can someone please tell me the head cc too?
I know I'm asking a lot and I appreciate your help.
TIA,
Casey
