How much did ford change the bellhousing patterns for 4 cyl? I have option of buying a 84 Ford Ranger in immaculate shape except someone tore apart the top end of the 4 cyl. and a 88 Ford Taurus/excort/topaz (small 4 door) with a TBI 4 cyl with only 42k on odomoter. Will this engine fit in the ranger? Thanks for any answer.

The econobox engine is a pushrod version and is not compatible with the OHC Lima the Ranger has in it.

In a broad sense, the TBI engine will fit, but since it was never offered in RWD form, that I know of, it isn't a wortwhile experiment when Lima 2.3's are sooooo plentiful.
