4x4 Front Hub Assembly

The bearings in the left sealed front hub assembly on my '01 F250 4x4 gave up the ghost at 78,000 miles. How long do they usually last? I will have to keep an eye "and ear" out for the other side. Is this typical for their life span or should it have lasted longer? The axles have never been under water and everything was clean inside when I replaced the hub assembly this morning.

I wonder if it's just coincidence or is there a reason that the left seems to go first. I hope the right lasts a good while. I can't afford to replace the other side right now. My new 4" SS exhaust is on it's way. Hope to put it on this weekend.

No doubt. At nearly $300 a pop I'd hardly call them cheap.
