? about a 43 Ford pick-up
Hey guys I'm new here to these forums so please be easy with me...LOL. Anyway I have a ? for you, I have a chance to buy a 1943 Ford truck that actually ran a couple years ago when it was parked and has been sittin since. I can get this truck for only 600 bucks, now the bad part of this. A small tree fell over on it and put a pretty good dent in the roof and a couple smaller on the hood but nothing that would require alot of work to fix. Do you guys think its worth it? I have not yet seen it but its my best freinds family and I know they wouldnt lie to me about the condition of the truck. Also does anyone have any pictures of a regular old 43 thats not a fire/dump/work with the duel rear tires? Thanks

FIrst, welcome to the boards, you'll find lots of great help from the people here. Now, on to your question. Chances are almost zip that it is a '43 if it is not a dual rear wheel truck. '43 is the rarest of the '42-'47 run, and just about all would be 1.5 ton and bigger, most were military or fire vehicles. After the War started pickup production was halted until early 1945, having ceased in early '42. The only possible exception might be for military use, such as on base and such, but that would be very rare. The '43 Ford looks the same as the rest of the '42-'47 Ford trucks. Here's a hint to narrow down the year of it, in '42 the script on the hood side was a die cast chrome piece, held on with a couple of screws, after '42 they went to a hood that had the Ford script stamped in.
