3 speed o/d help. :)

I am hoping to get info from someone here about this trans. I have a chance to get one of these reasonably priced. My main question is what are the restraints of torque these trannies can handle? Will they bolt up to a FE motor? this trans is out of a 52' Merc. automobile. I have a pic of it in my gallery.
I know there are other trans out there for the FE but, I want the O/D. Which is why I am posting my question here.
Mister Postmaster, I have posted this question in the tanny forum also, with really no help. Please don't reroute this post. Thank you.

Robert, you need to talk to these guys. They'll know and won't give you grief for wanting to mix and match Ford parts.

I don't think the flathead tranny will bolt to an FE engine without some machine work. Also, if I recall right, they don't handle hugh amounts of torque - they were built for 110 hp.

You might want to re-focus on world class T5's or mid-80's 4spd OD from F150's

Tim, thank you very much for for reply; and for your understanding on "wanting to mix and match Ford parts."
I will begin the journey down the road of the "T5's or mid-80's 4spd OD".
My newly rebuilt 390 should have in the neighborhood of 400 torque, according to D2000.
That said, I have ask my tranny guy about the ZF's and he replied not to do it, because of the torque.
Thanks again Tim for your reply and valuable information.

Hope to see you around.
