Ford and GM joint venture...

In the latest Car and Driver magazine (Nov'04), there is a preview of the new Pontiac G6. In the article they state "There is a six-speed automatic on the horizon, part of the Ford/GM joint transmission venture..." More info here:

Yea I had heard something about this a few months ago. Glad to see they are working together, it would have cost them, ALOT more to do it independently. Maybe by them working together, this will somehow put Dodge out of business????????LOL just dreamin!!

What if that tranny fails? Who'll win that argument between Ford and Chevy guys? lol

If the tranny was worthless, I would have to shift some blame on GM, since they already had a head start on the project and used a "GM based design" to start out with,.. so the article says....lol

But if it works, we will say that it was because Ford came aboard and righted the perverbial GM ship, LOL. That way there we are good either way if fails or succeeds, but I bet this will be a great tranny when its all said and done.

Hate to say this but my dad had a 400 that went to 455,000 miles with no change of fluid and so did the motor we gave the truck away because the body was going. I wish I could have a truck with a 300 I6 and a 400. O and a Np205 with 60s.

If FORD & gm do combine their efforts that is ok(sort of ). God help us as long as they
do not do anything with the Japanese’s

Maybe mercedes should have bailed them out in the 80's not in the 21 century.
