Check this connector and push it on HARD, sometimes it looks like its on but its not connected, cheap plastic heats up and wears out, push the connector on tight and hold it there with the truck running in park and have someone put it it 4x4 with the switch, went through hell to find out this was my problem a while back, it was on but not connected electrically.

Not to be a smart @#$ but did you hold it in, or does yours actually lock in place? Where do you stand with the problem right now? Uve checked fuses, relays, connections, new switch? The only thing left is the shift actuator motor. You could go to the dealer and have codes pulled for this, its stored in the GEM module. Cant retreive it unless you have Auto Enginuity or equivalant.

Can anyone tell me how the vacuum hoses connect to the spindle? Is there a fitting or do they just slide over a nipple? My esof is on the fritz, won't engage and the HVAC blower is possessed at times.........

hoses in wheel wells

I'm assuming that after 4 days, you've already replaced the hoses....If not, I just replaced mine with neoprene. It's a pretty small ID, prolly 3/32" or so.
I can't remember. The guy at the parts store knew though.

It just slips on. I suppose though, if you suspect a vacuum problem, you might want to use a clamp, but I don't think you need to. It seals pretty well. and the fitting on top, that it slips on to, is plastic and would prolly crack if you use a clamp.

Thanks,

I got it into 4wd manually, one hub would lock with the selector on the hub but the other one wouldn't budge. I pulled the hub off and engaged it with a screw driver. haven't taken it out of 4wd since, too much snow plowing to do.......

I think I'm going to manual hubs anyway, do you know where the 2 vacuum lines from the jubs meet up and tie in with the rest of the vacuum system so I can block it off at that point?

Thanks again.

I have a 2002 F250 Powerstroke. Two years ago while driving long distance, the heating core went out and sprayed antifreeze all over the cab and electrical wiring behind the glove box. At this time, the entire instrument panel quick working. Got it home, heating core fixed, and dried out wiring. Instrument panel worked again. The ESOF however did not. When switched, the light does not come on in the dash, and there is no noise as to the air pump kicking on or transfer case engaging. Manually locking the hubs does nothing as well.

So my question is where the problem could be? Could the antifreeze fry that module behind the glove box or could it be something else? We've checked fuses; even swapping the two relay switches under the hood and nothing.

Thanks for your response. After doing more research and messing with the truck I am starting to think it is the 4wd control module that is located behind the glove box. I called it the wrong thing in my earlier post (GEM Module). Could the antifreeze have shorted this out and also is this a part I have to have a dealership program or can I just take the old one out and put a new one in without issues?

ESOF switch has power, and is working properly (I know because I bought a new one in attempt to fix the problem) Basically I have no responses from any of my 4x4 indicators or parts. ANY SUGGESTIONS.
will give you a fix shortly as seems to be the same as everyone else has on the waif 4x4 system on ford superdutys! Fixed mine after
700.00 spent and wouldn't have had to buy anything!
