tired of truck !

if it isnt one thing it is another, stupid carb isnt doing what it is supposed to be doing. how hard is it to run right ! i spent all day trying this and that, went to put the one i got from fellro on after i rebuilt it and i went and moved wrong and knocked the carb off the bench. yeah you got it, i cracked the damn thing and busted one of the ears off. so that isnt a option anymore, so i rebuilt the other one i had, yeah you got it still runs like crap, and then i developed a lope. scratching my head on that one. this engine hasnt even got 300 miles on it yet. driving me nuts. i thought maybe my pentronix was acting up so i took it off and put my points back in, no help at all. so i took off carb checked it again, everything looks fine. still runs like crap, tried to mess with the timing, no help. wasted a whole staurday with this and still no luck. i am aboiut ready to sell this truck and give up

well why dont you come and whip mine lol. i am lost totalty. i have just about given up on getting my new 390 to even run right. i am going to bite the bullett and order up a new carb again. thats all i can think of doing, i have done everything else. i just bought the one carb a few months before i had the 360 rebuilt but the 390 dont seem to like it. i dont know what else to do. if anyone wants to come try their hand at it i will not only provide beer and or other drinks to that person. but i will fire up the grill one last time this year and cook up some angus steaks. i will even throw in some gas money. any takers ? i am in burlington iowa, that is the south east corner. 125 miles from desmoines - 80 from the quad cities - a long damn way from omaha - 68 miles from ottumwa. i am home every weekend

Glad to see you got it. Wanna fix mine now?

Pulled the center section the other cuz I noticed some metal shavings when I filled the lube before hauling the bro-in-laws truck here to fix. And to find the howl and reverse clunk. found all of the above. Carrier bearing on one side is gone, litterally just a cage and race now. Pinion has 2 big chunks out of it, bearing land is slightly chewed, and one of side (spider) gears the axle meshes with has a rather large chunk out of it that fell to the floor as I rolled everything out from under the truck.

Thought I'd found a free or close to free posi chunk for it but it but first it was geared wrong then I actually looked and it wasn't a 9". Found a guy in Charles City with a frame, and engine and stuff for sale. Wanted a hundred for the rear and 40-50 for the center. And another in Nashua for 75 for the whole rear, guy has the whole truck but think his stuff is made of gold, supposed to call him back for gearing but, the bro-in-law said he thinks he can get a whole truck for less than 150 (that's the asking price and it's supposed to be less rusty than mine). I'm waiting on that right now, gotta get out of here soon so he can call. Hopefully this or next weekend I can get it on the road. I was looking forward to starting to dive it to work.

Thanks. I may have to give a call depending on how all this goes with the other truck. Long road trip from up here but it may be worth it. I never checked any of the salvage yards up here. The two rears the guys I bought the truck from told me about and the almost free one he had.

hippie were do you live, and what gears do you need I have some 9in stuff around although the prices you listed for 9in stuff isn't that high, but as you noticed sometimes it cheaper to buy the whole truck, I don't have a posi around but have a spool for one if you wanta go that way. plus 2 complete drop out chunks both open, and a couple of sets of gears, only thing is all of my stuff is 31spl.

I'm in Elma.

About a half hour north of New Hampton, half hour southeast of Cresco, half hour westish of Charles City, one and a half or two south of Rochester, or about an hour and half north of W'loo-C.F.

As for gears the ones in there are 350's so I assume the front is the same and for now that's what I was going to go with to keep them matched, maybe someday I'll have her worthy of new tires and gears at the same time.

Oh forgot to add my axles are 31 spline. Guess I shouldn't read 3 or four forums do homework, watch tv, and help the wife all at the same time.

1bad- Thanks. I didn't even know there was a yard in Osage. Only ones I knew about were Quam's outside of Cresco and Wilken's over by Nashua.

monster- Still not sure if I'll make it or not. What kind of price are we talking? The way it stands I'd have to go either the entire center section or spool/mini spool, gears, bearings, and spacers ect. to set the thing up. I like the thought of spool/ minispool but I don't want to loose any "handling" because I have the rear locked. I will be driving her all the time.

I'll see about the swap right now funds aren't looking real promising. Went a week or so jobless now I have one but I am ready to quit that too. I hate third shift more than I do second. And the first shift "foreman" has already ****ed me off way too many times for only being there a week.

gears, and an open carrier (you will need bearing because mine are the origanal ones from the rearends), and a single rib drop out unit basically the complete chunk for $35, switch the open diff to spool (I have a used but barely, and almost new 31spl full spool), for $110
