Brake system 3-way combination valve leak?...

LAST EDITED ON 17-Jan-01 AT 06:34 PM (EST)[p]Anyone have their Aerostar's brake system 3-way combination valve (rear proportioning, front metering valve) start to leak out the end? The master cylinder level drops to the point of lighting off the "Brake" light on the dash after about a week. Looks easy to get to but neither the factory service manual nor Haynes repair manual tells anything about rebuilding this component. Is it a plug a new one in, bleed the system and play deal or is it rebuildable? Anyone know the approximate cost of the valve? This is a 1988 Aerostar that I've had since new and do a complete brake bleeding every two years on. Is this leaking valve a common Ford problem?
Thanks.

Mark

These valves are NOT Rebuildable, you need to replace it. You should be able to find one at a wrecking yard for about $25.00

Thanks for the response, Dave. I meant to post that I'd already replace the valve with a new one, $52. The Ford dealer had it in stock. The bone yards around here are several miles away and the price of the new one didn't seem to justify the hassle of looking for a used one.
