my parents are driving a 91 ford taurus with 1.9, at idle you can hear a distint ticking noise, the faster they go the louder it gets, any suggestions on where to start...

Mine does the same thing. Make sure the oil is changed regularly, but otherwise don't worry about it. It is probably an exhaust leak. The 1.9 will run forever as long as you are nice to them and keep the fluids changed.
