What is the Biggest engine you have heard of?
hey fella's, got a question. I want to know what the biggest engine's you have heard of are. If you can, give the sizes to me in liters and cubic inches. I have a friend who has trouble visualizing cubic inches. He grew up in Asia, what can I say. Try to keep it limited to just automotive engines if possible. If you want to throw in the hp and trq outputs as well don't let me stop you That is what it is all about anyway

I think we're looking for different answers. I believe 77fordguy has it for biggest piston engine (OK, it's diesel, not gasoline).
And I'll not argue with Guiness on that 824 cube car engine.
I've driven old Kenworths with Hall-Scott inline six gasoline engines around 1,100 cubic inches. They used to be very common.
So are we looking for biggest engine, or biggest car engine, or biggest over-the-road truck engine, or biggest land vehicle engine? Or what?
Of course, all of these answers are interesting.

How about 1,566,002 cubic inches, 108,920 HP, 5,608,312 ft-lb torque!!!
Read all about it here: http://www.bath.ac.uk/~ccsshb/12cyl/
Sorry boys and girls, I'm afraid it won't fit in your Superduty!

The Bugatti Royale had a 12,763cc engine (300 hp at 1700 rpm) and 36" wheels with an outside diameter of 40". After the Royale was discontinued (6 exist today), the same engines were used in railroad switch engines. This was one BIG car.
