300ci Truck Parts

Does anyone know where i can get a timing chain...new or used....for a 1981 Ford F150 with a 300ci I6? Ive looked all over and cant find anything for it, but as time goes by i clearly need it more and more every day! my best guess would be the salvage yard but man what a job!

Any suggestions are really appreciated,
Thanks

300 I6 has gear to gear=no chain; matched gear set at NAPA is $82; but check Autozone or Advance Auto for any savings. I wouldn't recommend used gears; unless you know they in excellent condition.

Check in with Vampiro in the Winnipeg area here at FTE. "Big Red", his '78 has a 300 and he's done a lot of work with it. He can probably give you some site references.

MY truck pings at a lower RPM and diesels when i shut it off... are these signs that i need to replace the gears? Adjusting timing doesnt get rid of either.

Does anyone think that it might be the EGR valve, or is it the timing gear...ive been told that a bad EGR valve will do the same thing? any thoughts?

Thanks

Have you tried posting on the 300 six forum? I just got my 300 and can't be of much help yet...
