Aftermarket Exhaust Tips

I'm happy with the sound of my '03 Lightning exhaust. However, I'd like to get nicer exhaust tips. Has anyone swapped out exhaust tips? I like the Borla "intercooled" style tips but haven't found any which would work with the side exhaust.

I'm guessing you prob want something more shiny than that stainless steel aft bassani exhaust. you could try bassani.com and see if you can order tips from them, but i dont think your going to find them anywhere else.

For what you'll likely spend for a nice set of chrome tips alone, you can buy a complete MAC catback. You'll end up with a deeper, more aggressive exhaust note (no freeway drone) and a pair of chrome, 3.5 inch pie-cut exhaust tips for $350 to your door. www.macperformance.com

I'm running a pair of LFP (Bassani) hi-flow catpipes in front of the MAC and it's VERY aggressive soundwise. With the stock cats it's not too loud, but it sounds much better than the stock muffler.

I've been looking at changing the exaust on my 04 L, i like the sound but somehow i've gotten something on my exaust tips that fogged them up,(perhaps soap at the carwash on hot exaust) almost like frosting on the chrome. Ive taken a dremel and a polishing tool to them but they are still are not like new. That MAC cat-back dosent look to bad, still looks clean, close to stock.

The factory tips are not chrome plated. They are ceramic coated and they're a PITA to keep clean. Aftermarket chromies are the way to go!

That would explain it, ceramic is good at dissipating heat, but not staying shiny. And to think some enginers are working on building an IC engine out of the stuff.

Wow, the Mac exhaust isn't too expensive. I've seen some exhaust sets running over $600. A Mac exhaust may be in my future. Thanks.
