I think I have what you're looking for!

PM me the specifics so I can measure it with a tape measurer to know which one I have. I have a couple C6's in the garage.

if your transmission is ok other than the problem you described, just find a case that will fit your engine it doesn't even have to be from a truck or have the same tail shaft, then gut them both, and transfer all of you internals to the new case, and you are good to go, and watch dougs they have a tendancy or reputaion for covering up problems until you get it home (like painting over rust without fixing it)

You can't go wrong with pollards! I've gotten loads of stuff there for $20.

I wonder what he'd charge for a 300 that I could rebuild at my leisure without having my truck down...

I made the mistake like that once, on a Windsor, my cousin welded it back on for me, worked out ok. Never made that mistake again, that was a long time ago...

Dougs is a complete rip-off! Try Witt's outside Eddyville. I went to Dougs for a front hub when I still had my '77. He wanted some outrageous price and didnt even know if he had one. Called Witt's and is was about half price. He even exchanged it after I found a crack. Dont even get me started about the "truck" he has for sale!
