1966 ranchero brakes
Hello everyone, it's my first thread. I have a beat up 1966 ranchero with un-fixable brake problems and a small budget. I am going in the direction of pulling some 1970's ford brakes form the junk yard and do a disc brake conversion. I want discs because im planning on making it relativly fast. I know it can be done but im not sure on the specs.

The 67 Mustang disc brake set will fit - same as the 66 Ranchero. I haven't checked the taper on the spindle but the rest of the front suspension looks to be the same on my 66 Ranchero and my 67 Mustang. The other option is the granada conversion. My next trick is retrofiting a 90s Tarus power rack and pinion steering unit on the ranchero. I'm tired of fixing leaks on the original power steering unit as they seem to pop up at least once a year.

Option one: Find the proper donor car and get all the parts.
Option two: Kit from Stainless Steel Brakes or other fine brand.
Don't go cheap on brakes. I remember a guy sitting in the bar weeping while his son sat in the hospital after loosing the brakes on his car and getting his head bashed in.
Think of all the time you will waste trying to piece something together vs. the cost of a good kit.
