Talking Heading out for a whirlwind tour of BC...

Well I am off work untill August 13 recuperating from a surgery. I have to get some stitchs removed by local medical personnel before this Wednesday, want to hit the road by then. We will be running the truck & camper, not pulling a trailer, this trip. My planned route is west to Dawson Creek, then south to Prince George, continue south to Quesnell BC where I want to visit a Cousin, then continue south to 100 Mile House, do the Frazier Canyon, head for the coast, visit my parents in Victoria, then do the normal Hwy 1 & Hwy 5 route on the way back. If you see me passing through your area on my travels give me a wave or a blast on your horn.m If you see us stopped at a viewpoint, rest stop or campground, don't be shy, drop by & say howdy.
Ken

You're heading back the wrong way
From Vancouver you can take the ferry across to Victoria and drive up the island which is beautiful and then take the ferry from port Hardy up to Prince Rupert and then take Hwy16 back home. When you go through Terrace honk as you go by the Ford dealership where I work
Have you been on the ferries before? Or on the island? I think the ferry ride is great and the island is beautiful. Too bad the ferry is quite expensive. Oh well.

I have often wanted to do that route, but the cost has held me back.
Do you work in Parts, Service or Sales? Not sure if we would come back that route, but if we do I will stop in at your dealership.

If you plan on taking the Ferry from Port Hardy you'll need a reservation, as well the ferry only runs 3 days a week I think. Recently did a trip to the Chilcotin from the island (900km) and it ended up being cheaper to take the ferry to vancouver and driving all the way up instead of hopinh on the ferry at Hardy and going up to Bella Coola (300km) although the scenery would have been spectacular.

The canyon is nice, but you might want to consider taking the scenic route from Lillouet to Pemberton by the Duffey Lake road, or if you don't mind gravel, through Seton Portage or the Hurley pass route (easier).
