Has any one made or saw how to make a cold air intake for the 5.4L. I'v been pricing the and I think $250 is alot for a tube with a filter on the end of it. Just woundering if anyone make on by themself and If they nodiced a different.
Hmm, looks to me like he made himself a "hot air Intake"... The kit comes with a shield that prevents the hot engine air from being sucked in. Plus he used the existing air tube, not very smooth.
I'm gonna put that on my list of things NOT to do to my F-150...
Actully I've heard of people doing about the same mod. Replacing the filter with a Hi-flo filter and just cutting out the end of the air filter box. They've had pretty good luck with it. But me ... I have an Volant w/airbox.
Made one myself. Check out my gallery, the homemade kit has it's own page.
Not to make it sound like it's a great improvement, but my mileage is up by a steady 1/2 mpg on my usual useage. Last couple of weekends I've figure the mileage on the hwy is nearly 17 mpg. That's above the 15 I'd seen before.
