Hi everybody!

This is my official announcement for the 1957 - 1960 Ford F-series Registry. One day this spring, I stumbled onto the T-bird Registry doing some project for school. I thought this would be a neat idea to bring more attention to, and a concentrated source of information for our beloved '57 - '60s.

Everyone who owns one knows our trucks are not as aggressively supported by the aftermarket as the earlier models. Nor does the cruising public at large get overly excited about them, as compared to the sexier pre-'57 models.

The purpose of the registry will be to record as many of these trucks that still exist after all these years, where, in what condition and who owns them. The registry will also include useful information, such as factory photos, drivetrain/color/interior choices, factory options, a VIN and data plate deciphering section, axle code info, and even original radio and TV commercials (provided by our own 4Speed!). It will also include pictures of the trucks that are registered, and hopefully an area for owners to contact each other. It will be an organized good source of information for our '57 - '60s.

This will not be to override what we have going here. In fact, I would like to eventually link it to our '48 - '60 forum somehow, so that it will also include a direct link to a killer source of online friends and sharing of information.

I know this sounds like a big deal, and it is, but what am I in school for? Not just to restore old cars, but to promote our hobby in any way I see an opportunity to do so.

There are currently 59 trucks registered (most with accompanying pictures) around the country, and one in Australia. I probably have 6 or so already registered from our group here. What I need to register is the VIN and all other data plate info from the glovebox door, or doorjamb, depending on the year. Feel free to email me with questions, or the information requested. Or, just post it on here, whichever is most convenient. Here's an example of my info:

Also, please include your name, city and state. It isn't any more personal than that. I am currently working on the logo, and the site is being set up now. I hope to have it online around mid-summer. Check out www.tbirdregistry.com to get an idea of what it will be. Of course, the info will be tailored to our trucks, and will include anything people wish to contribute.

The recent pole here showed there are supposedly 70 '57 - '60s in our group! Help support my project which will benefit all of us! Let's get these ol' Fords out there where they deserve to be!

Sounds like a great idea. I've just purchased a 1960 F-100 and expect it to arrive in about two weeks. I've got my information at the office and will have to post it later. I believe it was built in Kansas and was a Nebraska farm truck.

Hey that will be great!! I am rebuilding a 57 f-100 now the vin # is f10j7r21058. The parts are almost impossible to find at a reasonable price anyways. I am doing a frame up restore. People will come around to the body style. The earily 50's are nice but their are too many I wanted to build something unique or at least something not everyone had. If anyone has any ideas where to get parts for these truck at a reasonable price please let me know. If you need anymore info please let me know thanks. are you going to have a website and stuff? Will I get an e-mail from you with the link? I am very interesed and will help in anyway I can thanks again

Hey Joker! Go ahead and give me the info below the VIN too. That way, I can record its original color, date, trans, etc....

History:
Purchased new in the spring of 1958 by my dad from Shankey Motor Company in Haverstraw, N.Y. for use as the service truck at his Esso gasoline station. The first rust bubbled out and was repaired before selling the truck in 1963 to my Uncle. I received the truck back, as a gift, in 1972 driving it off and on until the early 80's when I disassembled it to repair the extensive rust. By then the bed was porous and the floor of the cab was almost non-existent. Parts were virtually unobtainable back then so the repairs were undertaken using repair panels from Mill Auto Supply and parts from 4 other vehicles - a 1957 panel truck, a 1957 F-750 dump truck, a 1960 F-250, a bed from another 1958 F-100 and a lot of help from a fantastic body man by the name of Dave Vargas who was unbelievable with metal. Unfortunately, I've lost touch with Dave over the years. In 1996 we moved to GA and brought the truck with us, it now has it's own garage and no longer has to fight for space. The interior is still original but that is about to change as it's gotten pretty rough and door panels and headliners are now available. Down the road it will be time to re-do the body again before I turn their grandfather's truck over to the kids who are both adults now.

i am finishing up a frame off rebuild,i got the truck from about the 4th owner for $100.00,no motor no trans,but in good shape.now has a big block mopar engine and trans in it.everything else is ford,i think that the 57'-60' f-100's are the best of the early ford truck's.well thanx in advance for registering my truck,this is a great thing you are doing/scott.

 

The vin is all I have There is no data plate sorry. It has a 272 manual shift that's all I know thanks

Okay that's kool. What color was it originally? At least I can fill in that field. This registry is starting to take on characteristics of the "Missing Production Numbers". oooOOoo!

I figure if I get enough of these trucks registered, at least SOME sort of picture should come of it as far as stats, how many were this and that, etc.

Supposedly, no one knows of, or has good production #s of the '57 - '60s, because in 1965, Ford lost all previous stats on these things. If someone can come up with it, let me know! Even if it's just basic X-amount of stepsides and style sides in '57, '58, 59, 60...etc. This registry will give a good idea of the percentage of 223s to Y-blocks, how many were one color or another, etc.

One thing's for sure, there are alot more '59s and '60s than '57s, and '58s are at the back of the pack. Does this mean something? Who knows......
