Question reprogramming a diablo chip

hi, im new here so bear with me. i found a diablo chip on ebay, ,the user claims it is new, it is for newer V8 F-150's. I have an '03 4.6 F-150 with a flowmaster and K&N filter, and if i buy this chip, can it be reprogrammed for my truck, and also to run 87 octane, im not looking to pay 2.15 a gallon for a few more hp. also what would the cost be for a reprogram? I know this isnt the tranny forum, but ive also been looking at diablos power valve to increase trtanny shift firmness, would this be a good addition? any advice would be greatly appreciated but i only have about 20 hours to decide, the auction ends then.
thank you
Wayne

Need to know the PCM code to know 100% if I can reprogram it. The code is 4 digits (3 letters followed by 1 number), on the passenger side door frame near the hinges. 87 octane tunes aren't worth it, get a premium fuel tune because the mileage increase will help make up for the difference in cost. The reprogram fee information is here:

Question diablo chip reprogram

thanks for the reply, i will try to get the pcm for you, my only other question is: isnt it supposed to be bad for your engine to use 93 octane in engines like mine that are designed to run on 87?
thanks again

The chip reprograms the PCM for premium fuel.

Question reprogram

sweet, thanks so much for all your help. so now i buy the chip, and purchase the $40 reprogram from the link you gave me, and then what? mail you the chip along with my pcm code?
i dont mean to ramble on, but i am just really worried about messing up my truck, after all, its all i have, but what are the chances that this chip could damage my truck, realisticly?
thanks again, you have been an enormous help

Your truck will be just fine. The chip advances timing and leans the mixture to accomodate the premium fuel. I've put about 5000 miles on mine and the only problem I had was not getting the chip secured in place properly. Use duct tape to hold it in there good and tight. Also, look around for the highest octane available. Some places only have 91, others have 93, if you live in an area with 92 or 93, I think you can have it tuned accordingly to get a bit more out of the chip. As far as paying for premium, with the current gas prices, even the slightest mileage improvement will be cost effective because your cost per mile will actually be less with a premium tune that is getting better mileage.

top of this page and parts shop. click on tuners/chips and follow along until you get to the reprogram section, or call motorhaven.
