transmission band adjustment?

I have a '93 F150 2wd with 302 and AOD transmission. I'm wanting to change the transmission fluid (as I often do) but this time I was wondering: are there some kind of bands or something that need to be adjusted? seems like the transmission shops talk about that sometimes. Does anyone know if my ford has this and how to do it? Thanks, Kent

from what tehy say, hyou shoudln't change the tranny fluid if it hasn't been changed after a long period, cause of the dirt or grime buildup that could be makeing the transmission perform properly now.

Yes, Definitely change your transmission fluid at the Ford scheduled maintenance checkpoints in your owners manual. Especially AOD. My E4OD required it for the Health of My Transmission at 70k miles. When you have the xmsn pan off, take out and clean the magnet stuck on the bottom of the pan. It will have collected lots of metal particles. And clean or replace the filter.

first off, i dont think you have an AOD tranny, ford stopped using the AOD in trucks around 91, then the E4OD became standard. and no both of these trannys do not have any ajust ment except computer tuning with the E4OD and ajusting the TV-cable for the AOD.

Thank you. So i don't have to worry about adjusting any bands on these and the magnet is a great idea. Yes it is an AOD, i know it's unusual but they had a select few in 93 yet. most '92's that i've seen even have the EOD with the electronic controls but mine does not. Not sure how i wound up with it but it's original. Thanks, KS

how big is the oil pan? the oil pan on the AOD looks simular to the C-6 except it has the budlge, the only way you have a plane-jane AOD is if someone swapped it in, i have a real hard time believing this just because i used to think the same thing, then someone proved to me that ford didnt come from the factory with anything else but an E4OD with the newer vehicles.

I'll check it this evening. Now you've got me wondering what it is. Maybe someone did swap it in but I thought that the EOD models had an electronic button to control or lockout the overdrive. Mine does not have such a button in the gearshift lever. I'll check the pan tonight, KS

oh ok, im not shure how the AOD-E locks out the OD, thats a good point, does your shifter go P-R-N-OD-D-1 without a OD off button? im not shure how the AOD-E has the lockout.
