Sealing carburetor base gasket?

My Motorcraft 2150 2bbl has a little nick in it's base plate. It can't be sanded without ruining the seal to the base plate gasket further. The carb is excellent otherwise, but sucks air loudly at the area where the nick is when running. Normally I would never seal a base plate gasket as most sealers, particularly silicon, will melt away in the presence of gasoline. But in this case, I'm wondering if there is some kind of sealer out there that will help with this? Any ideas? Thanks.

Maybe you can J-B Weld the chip then when it is set up, reinstall it and you should be fine.
