Does anybody know where or how to get a beach permit? This is my first 4x4 and don't know where to get one from. The prior owner had permits but didn't pass on the info where to get one. It's almost time to start fishing on the beach soon.

 

you could prob get one at Hither Hills, Montauk but im not sure. I get mine at Robert Mosses's State Park Police office. Go South on Robert Mosses PKWY over both bridges, bare right after 2nd bridge (going west). Should be your first right. it kind of loops around along side the bay and brings you right to it. its $60 if i remember right.

is that for the state permit or the suffolk county?

 

its for all the designated off road beaches on Long Island both Nassau and Suffolk.

 

are there any equipment requirements.

 

That permit is State only.
Suffolk,East Hampton,Shagwong and The Fort at Montauk are all different.
The State permit gives you access to Gilgo,Sore Thumb,Demo,Montauk Light,Hither Hills,and Napeague and night parking lot rights at a few other beaches.
