Off Topic Lounge Shut Down

See my post here for an explaination:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=225891

Anyone attempting to use any other section of the site to discuss political, sexual, religious and gun control topics will be permanently locked out of that section. Fair warning has been given!

As you can see in my posts in that thread I agree with you Ken. It was starting to give FTE a bad look. Kinda like if you bought a brand new F150 and added a big wing to the back and made it sound like a weed wacker. I support your decision and if people don't like it I guess they can go somewhere else. (Even though I would not want that to happen.)

-Matt

P.S. May I suggest a link under the OTL title linking to this post (for the MANY users who don't read Site Announcements )

I understand the decision. I'm hoping maybe sometime in the future a similar forum can be started up, with access only availabe to those with several hundred posts, with strict rules that, if violated, would cost them something that they have built up.

Some of the worst offenders had over 1000 posts....

As to setting up something in the future.... isn't three tries enough?

Kind of sad, isn't it. Yes three tries is enough. Keep up the good work Ken!

I think we'll all be better off in the long run. There are so many courteous, helpful, intelligent people here that OTL stuck out like a sore thumb. Maybe it wouldn't have stood out as much on other sites, but it sure did here. I have to admit, I'd take a peek in there every now and then, for the entertainment value, or if my doctor said my blood pressure was getting too low. But even train wrecks get tiresome after awhile. Adios, OTL!

Now, back to our regularly-scheduled programming..........

Oh well all that was done in there is start arguements. I agree with the decision. I just hope these people dont take there arguements to general conversation and get it closed to. Keep up the good work.

GC been going pretty good with all the light hearted posts, and jokes, its kinda nice visiting in there, king trinton, has started some good ones here lately.along with the others.. thats the way it should be...

I was sitting here debating whether or not the demise of OTL even deserved a reply....

Not really, but Im gonna anyway, its uplifting to see that fiasco (OTL) that is vaguely akin to 3rd graders having a food fight in the cafeteria gone.

My sole enjoyment in that forum came from going in to see who got chewed on for misbehaving, only to come right back with the same behavior, like a dog that keeps peeing on the carpet even after you rub his nose in it and put him outside for a while

What was a good hearted attempt at off topic conversation turned into a cancer that disrupts the positive direction this great place is going....and that I think, is enough said.

I'm thinking it'll be gone about 2 days longer than forever. And for me it's good riddance to a bad habit. Thanks Ken. Again I apologize for any of my misbehaviour. Hey maybe the next new forum should be OTL-ANON. "Hello, I'm 76Super and I'm a recovering OTL addict"

I'm assuming that after it lies in state for an appropriate amount of time the body will be interred in an out of view location?

OTL is going away because of the actions of a few individuals who cannot comprehend or do not care about the effect their actions have on others. If the rules of the forum and the rules of common courtesy were followed we would still have a forum to exchange viewpoints on politics, gun control and other subjects that tend to tweak the emotions of some. It is said that those starting threads with controversial subjects in GC will be locked out, my reaction is why were those who were in open violation in OTL not banned on the spot by the moderators, thus weeding out those without the capacity or the desire to play by rules, and preserving what could have been a good fourm on FTE? There will ALWAYS be those, who from lack of caring or lack of capacity, will spoil a good thing for others. That is the time when leaders (the Webmaster and the moderators) step forward to clean house and when concerned users begin to self-police. The end of OTL will be a victory for the rabble, the uncouth, and the uninfomed - and that is sad. Say it isn't so!

I suspended 23 people for 7 day periods.
Another 5 or 6 completely.

It was said over & over again,..this isn't rocket science to figure out.

It would also be a waste of bandwidth to continue discussing the OTL.
