11.5 inch clutch replacement
All,
I have a 360 or a 390. I pulled it and was planning on putting it into my 1970 F250. I dont know what kind of vehicle the engine was originally in but when I took the clutch off the engine and went to the parts store, it measured out to be an 11.5 inch clutch. The guy at the parts store said maybe I can still bolt up the 11 inch pressure plate to my flywheel but we tried it and the boltholes dont line up. And the kicker is that the 11.5 clutch kit costs $150 more than the regular one I and the flywheel was $200 more
My question now is...can I use a regular 11 inch clutch/pressure plate and flywheel for a 360/390 on this engine? Originally it had an 11.5 inch clutch which the parts guy said was for big trucks like F650s or F700s. Also, does anyone know of an easy way to check whether I have a truck engine (FT) ?

Hi,
I replaced the stock 11" clutch with an upgrade to a 12" model. It was a direct bolt on to the existing flywheel. Here is the info:
Made by RhinoPac, Part number 07-050A 90206. There number is Technical hotline 1-800-528-6743. Total for the kit was 258.00
The only way I know of to tell the difference between a FE and an FT is to measure the crankshaft diameter. The FT is larger. Sorry but I can't remember the exact dimensions.
Hope this helps,
