i need to know if a stock 01 lightning can handle 12 boost?

I just bought my 01 ford lightning, and it says its running 8 psi of boost stock, and im thinking about buying a 6lb pulley kit for the supercharger that adds 6 psi,

can the stock internals run 12 psi or if not, what will I have todo to make sure it doesnt screw up the motor?

Thanks

Scott

With no other modifications I would do a lot of research prior to moving up to 12psi. Good luck.

12 psi

with the right tune in the chip you should be ok, for awhile, i ran 4 and blew 4 rods out the side of my block. if you are thinking of running more than the stock set up, put the forged internals in it and build the lower end. ive read of lots of other L owners blowing the 01-02 motors with a chip and 4-6 lb. pulley

teamjdm.com

go to teamjdm.com and look at their kits, they have the build your own lower end kits, built short blocks, built long blocks, everything you can imagine, cams, etc

I use to run a 5lb pulley, Chip, full exhaust......... and I ran this combo for about 23000 miles with no problems......
I have since gone to a built lower end with ported heads, KB, cams...etc.....
But I never blew my stock block.... and it took a beating......
I think sum trucks can handle it more........

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords put a Kenne Bell supercharger on at 16 pounds, and said that as long as you control detonation, you can easily run that much power.

Ive been running on a 4# lower pulley for over a year and my truck has almost 75000 miles on it. Never had a motor and it will go mid 12's. Just make sure you run good fuel and keep an ear out for detination.
