#2
The 330 motor is a MD or HD truck engine, there were 2 versions in 65 which is the shop manual all this is from. The MD version is code A on the patent plate....on the doors on F series, unsure bout the others. The code for the HD is M both have 7.6:1 compression ratio, both have dual advance distributors as well as Holley 2BBL carb. governor on MD is velocity, HD is Centrifugal vacuumbore is 3.875X 3.50 stroke on both. the HP is 186@4000rpm with 300ft lb of torque @ 2000 rpm (352 is 208 hp@4400 rpm and 315 ft lb of torque @ 2400 rpm)the oil cap. is 9 qts w/new filterMD engine has same main dia as 352, HD is slightly smallersame story on rod journal....HD slightly smaller. I hope this helps you out....

The 330 is the smallest (in CID) of the FT engine family, which includes the 330, 361 and 391.
The FE motors include the 332, 352, 360, 390, 406, 410, 427, and 428.
The FT and FE motors share many similar dimensions, but they are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE without significant modifications.
The FT cranks are forged instead of cast, but the snout of the crankshaft has a larger diameter. This means the front timing cover has a larger hole and seal in it. Unfortunately, this means you cannot replace an FT motor with an FE motor not only because the front timing cover crankshaft hole on an FT is larger (the FE crank won't seal), but also because the front timing cover on an FT motor is the front engine support. (I've heard that a popular FE racing mod is to get the forged 391 FT crank, turn the snout down to FE dimensions, and use it in a 390 FE for greater reliability.)
FT rear engine mounts use the bellhousing, which has the rear engine support bosses cast into it - unlike the FE motor, which uses the side of the block for the mounts. The FT side engine mount holes are not in the same position as an FE.
I also recognize that with everything else, Ford made exceptions and unannounced changes, so this is shared to the best of my knowledge and with the best of my intentions.
Hope this helps.

1964/72: There are TWO different 330 engines, they are not the same.
The 330 Medium Duty (M/D) FT engine uses some FE engine components. The 330 M/D block is 330 M/D only, but the 1964/67's use the FE 352 crank, 1968/72's use the FE 360 crank.
The 330 Heavy Duty is based on the FT 361 engine.
1973: The entire scenario is different.
Gone is the 330 Medium Duty engine. Ford replaced it with the 330 Heavy Duty engine...then to confuse matters further, called the former Heavy Duty engine a Medium Duty.
1973/79 F350's made by Ford especially for U-Haul use the 330 Medium (former Heavy) Duty engine. This is the only F350 to use this engine.
The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code.
A = 1964/65 330 MEDIUM DUTY
C = 1966/72 330 MEDIUM DUTY
-------------------------------
M = 1964/65 330 HEAVY DUTY
D = 1966/72 330 HEAVY DUTY

XLT, Not to interfere with anything that Bill posted, and if I read your post correctly, any FE from a pickup or FT from a larger truck can be used as a replacement engine. A 73-76 360 would be a good replacement.
Back then UHaul had some crazy ideas and that engine was only available to them. AFAIK

Sir, I purchased a 1972 Ford F500 yesterday. It's a two axel dually, former U haul truck, with the box removed.
The master cylinder was removed prior to my purchase and I am trying to find a new or rebuilt one. Could you give me a part # and manufacture for the master cylinder and the wheel cylinders for this truck?
VIN / Warranty Tag Info:
F50CRA59075
156 8 F504 481 A 41
18000 164 3800 72
Now on a different subject, could this be a 1967 vs 1972?
Any help would be appreciated.
Stuart

I purchased a 1972 Ford F500 yesterday. It's a single axle, former U haul truck, with the box removed.
It's a 1967. All 500 and larger series trucks have DRW (Dual Rear Wheels) and were sold as a Cab & Chassis. This truck has a single rear axle, it doesn't have Tandem Axles.
The master cylinder was removed prior to my purchase and I am trying to find a new or rebuilt one. Could you give me a part # and manufacture for the master cylinder and the wheel cylinders for this truck?
Does the truck have power brakes? If so, where is the booster...on the firewall or on the frame rail? Wheel cylinders: What size are the front and rear brake shoes?
You're posting in the wrong forum, this is for 1961/66. Please ask further questions in the LARGE TRUCK forum, most members of the 1967/72 forum have pickups.

1961/66's look completely different than 1967/72's.
The hood side emblems (assuming the left is the same) are 1967 only. 1968/72's use a different design that has a yellow reflector lens.
1967 F100/750: You push the inside door handles forward to lock the doors. 1968/72 F100/750's have door lock *****.
