Resale value Ford,Chevy,Dodge
Resale value. Important thing to have at trade in time. Chevy claims to have the best resale value on there half tons. I believe the ford f-250's and 350's from 94 and up with the powerstroke 7.3 have the best resale value of any H.D. pickup. Dodge with there cummins motor hold there value real good too. What do you think.

Even as work vehicles those trucks hold there value well. Another truck that hold its value well are those 79 ford pickups. If you have one of these thats original and in good condition you never know what they might bring. Those older early 50s ford pickups restored or not if in decent condition are really worth some bucks too. Check out ebay.

The explanation I found was that since Chevy's generally sticker for higher, they start off higher, but after 2-4 years, they fall to a value even with or lower than Ford and Dodge. Ford 1/2 tons usually are pretty cheap because there is just so darn many of them out there. Anything with the 7.3L Power Stroke from 94-03 holds its value very steadily. I have seen numerous 94 PSD's go for well over $10000 with 100,000 miles on them. It only gets better from there. The 6.0L has not been out long enough to know. Dodges have gotten better, but still have a little ways to catch up. However, Dodges with the Cummins are pretty close to the Ford Power Stroke Equipped trucks. Chevy diesels (6.2L and 6.5L) are not much count. They take the most loss on value of any truck. The Duramax is an improvement over the 6.5, it runs better, and holds value better.

HeyMW95F250 I agree with everything you say there. Those 94-03 powerstroke trucks really do hold there value. Here's a sale for you. I seen a 95 250 withthe powerstroke bring $8700.00 and it had 170,000 miles. The truck was far from perfect though. Also seen a 1999 S.D. with regular cab with the powerstroke bring $17000.00 the best resale value of any truck period. Also seen a 1995 ford f-250 with the 460 motor with 30,000 actual miles bring$18,000 all 4 wheel drive of course. The older ford 250 and 350 trucks with the 460 and pretty decent shape.hold there value pretty darn good.

Yeh M.J.D Like I stated in another post I seen one at an auction a F-250 4x4 with 30000 actual miles near mint condition bring $18,000. I really tried to buy that truck. Thought $10000 might buy that truck. Whew thats overdoing it a bit I believe. Did you realize that truck is over 25 years old. That truck probably sold new for 9 to $10,000,. For that kind of money I was thinking of getting something newer.

The worst truck I've seen for value are the old Mazdas and Toyotas. I have a friend who looked up the value on his '84 Mazda 1.9L 4cyl. and it came up as No Value Available. He looked up his uncle's '85 Toyota 4x2 and it came up with a retail value of $425, and a trade in value of $25. Lucky for him he also has a '96 F-150 with a 300/6-5 spd.

The older Chevys do usually bring a good price. The off roaders buy em up, especially if they are a 3/4 or 1 ton. My 1979 GMC 3/4 ton could probably sell pretty well. It is in decent shape for being a work pickup its whole life. It needs a bushing kit and it could use some new shocks, but the body only has a few dents. It has all of the goodies (sm465 4 speed, NP 205, 14 bolt rearend), and the motor is still in reasonably good shape.

MJD I see yours is a 4 speed. The 79 I mentioned before had a maual transmission. Thats what everybody wants in them. Hey keep your truck. Those old trucks were tough. A lot tougher than nowdays. Your truck would still sell well. Keep it don,t sell it where are you going to find one like that.

I have had a few offers for it, but I am going to hold onto it. I was merely evaluating its condition. It has taught me quite a bit about mechanics and it was my first vehicle, so I think that it will stay around. I wish that it was driven more, but it still makes a good outfit to haul a water tank for praire fires, so it has a use. It has an Edelbrock carb on it, but I cannot get it to run as well as I would like to. It makes poor gas mileage(probably well under 10 mpg), which is why I do not drive it too often.
