Fuel Milage 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel
OK I am trying to figure out if I need to address my MPG situation. The dealer told me I could get up to 20 MPG . But I dont trust dealers any farther than my ten tear old son can throw them. but I just had to have this 2000 EX. I figured it would get 18 since it was a diesel. I am only getting 15.5 MPG in general and 17 on the highway trips. Do I have a problem or is this what I should expect. The 15.5 is 90% highway. The 17 MPG is with the product called DIESEL KLEAN. PLEASE REPLY with your average and highway MPG. THANK YOU.

How fast do you go around town and on the freeway? Have you run any Diesel Kleen through your PSD? How long has it been (miles) since you've changed your fuel filter? All of these could be factors that lead up to why you're getting such bad mileage. If you don't have a heavy foot, you should be getting around 15.5 to about 16 around town, and about 17.5-20(if you're lucky) on the freeway.

Thanks for your reply. I don't drive crazy since I can almost see the gas guage move. I purchased the vehicle at 28k and it has 33k now so I will replace the filter today. I will also put some Kleen through it and report back! Thanks for your help. I live in a hilly area and use bigger tires in winter and 20" low profile tires in summer.

I have an 00 X 7.3 PSD and get 22.5 MPG at 55-65 mph of freeway driving. It drops to 19.5 at 75-85 MPH. When pulling my 30' toy hauler I usually get around 10.5-12.5 depending how hard I'm accelerating. Oh...did I tell you about my Diablo chip???? That made a huge difference in mileage and HP. Best $500 I've spent.
