Engine Rebuild/ReMan Companies In BC

I am wondering if anyone in the lower Mainland has any recommendations on companies that provide reman'ed or rebuilt engines in the vancouver area.
I am needing to have my 460 done or core exchanged/done, and am looking for a recommendation.
Canada Engines is a big local choice.
Bond Mechanical.??
Both are Better Business members.
Who would you use.

Thanks

the company I work for uses Vulcan engine rebuilders which is a ford authorized rebuilder. unfortunatly I think you have to buy through a ford dealership We also use pacific parts at 4th and Qubeac in Van. Eric

I would recommend NOT buying anything from Vulcan.
I dont think they are a Ford authorized rebuilder anymore but I could be wrong. In the past we've had so many problems with them that we wont buy from them anymore.
Your dealer can get FQR (Ford Quality Renewal) engines. They are built to Ford's standards and have more new parts than most other rebuilders and have a good warranty. I think their prices are competitve but I dont usually see prices...I just install them.

This just in.
My Friend Gary tells me it is the Aklands Granger in North Van

Here is his note:

Hi Grampa Smurf
It's Acklands Granger in North Vancouver but they are closing
the shop the end of May because Dave is retiring (he is the machine shop).

Well it has been about six months since we bought a engine but it was through Dams and it did come from Vulcan and its still going strong. Im getting a set of 370 heads on Monday also from dams I will see if they are from Vulcan or if ford has another rebuilder . Eric

Thanks all,
I think I will skip the shop in N. Van that is closing in May.
I had a friend mention Vulcan, but he hadn't dealt with them for years and had no good info.
The statement from Racerguy that "we've had so many problem in the past" indicated that a poor track record was established over a period of time by a/his shop. Good info...
I haven't decided yet, but drove by the Canada Engine shop in Surrey today. Quite a big operation. I asked for info on how they do things and explained I was in the market. I was given a tour of the entire large building and had each machine and assembly station explained in detail. All done in a friendly manner that was informative and didn't come across as a hard sell job.
$1995 for exchange engine
$875 labour to yank old and slap in new.
$150 in misc fluids and things
$3020. in total.

I had another quote that came in at $2600, but was a smaller shop. Bond Mechanical on Main St.

I had priced the Ford Quality Renewal engines though a ford dealer parts person I know, and a long block was, if I recall correct, about $4500 WITHOUT labour for the install. A bit price.

I am going to do a bit more research, and then make a decision.
Thanks again for the local feedback and I will provide a response on how it works out.

Doug

Mr. Personality,

I'm just looking for a good place to get a rebuilt 302 from. Searched the web and found your thread. Would you mind sharing your experience with the shop that you selected? Any specific recommendations?

Thanks in advance.
