Considering buying a 99-00 Lightning

Okay, I'm sure this question has been asked 100 times by noobies, but here's another one. I'm looking at a couple lightnings that seem like pretty good deals and that I can afford. The main one I'm looking at is a bone stock, no performance mods 99 L. It has 38,000 miles, 2000 model clear taillights, and a billet grille and the guy is asking $18,500. First of all, I want to know how the price is, and I want to know what to look for. I have heard of intercooler recalls and spark plug blowout, but I want some specifics before I go broke buying a junker. Thanks for all the help.

intercooler is the main concern. i would say check plugs every 10k. i just bought my 99L with 39k on it for 17,500. I have already did a plug change and a host of mods myself.

I just bought my 2000 L with 38k miles with a 48k mile extended warranty off the lot for $21,995. This was the cheapest one in town and according to KBB and Nada Guides it's about $2k under what I would have paid for the same L normally. The spark plugs aren't that big of a deal as long as you treat the truck right and like it was stated above, check them every so often. The intercooler is the big thing to check, but 9 times out of 10 this has already been changed by Ford. You can contact Ford and find out if it has been changed, if not they will have to fix it for free. Which is always a good thing when u go $30k in debt

I bought my 01 Lightning used, but beforeI bought it I test drove it. On that test drive I took it to the local Ford Dealer and had them bring up what they had done to the vehicle over the last few years. They were more than happy do do so and didn't charge me a penny. Always explore all you options before buying something of this nature because while most of us take care of our Lightnings, you never know if you are getting that one that has lived it's life a 1/4 mile at a time.

Parker,
If you get this email on Weds 4/14, go ahead and email me directly ASAP at chapman1@attglobal.net

There is a red 2000 SVT Lightning with only 4,000 miles in a bankruptcy liquidation TODAY. Who knows what it will sell for but if you're shopping for one now you/we could almost certainly snag it at some incredible bargain.

The last time I ran into an opportunity like this, some knuckleheads on the forum assumed it was a scam and started flaming me with insults. Do not make this mistake, the deal is very real, here's most of the VIN if you're still skeptical: 2FTZF0730YCA60***

I might just speculate on it with the intent to sell it but I would much rather team up with a motivated buyer. If anyone knows someone please contact me immediately. I'll consider a reasonable finders fee.
