Does anyone know if the ford 39 gal. fuel tank would fit in the short bed,replacing the existing factory 28 gal. tank ?
Would be any easy solution for those owners like me who could use an extra 10 gals. of gas to get a few more miles between gas stations with the v-10.
Tried to order the 39 agl. tank with the truck, but dealer said no.
Quick look at each tank dosen't show much difference. If only the filler hose and mounts will match up. They are approx. same length.

 

I too would like to put the longbed tank (39 gal) on my short bed to replace the 28 gal tank.

Does anyone know if this can be done?

I am going to Ford today to hopefully get my 2001 F250 V10 4x4 crew cab short bed and I am pretty sure that it has the 38 gallon tank. I will write back later today and let you know for sure

Well, I got my truck and no, it doesn't have the 38 gal. tank... it has the 28. The dealer told me that the short bed only comes with the 28.

 

You may want to check out the Transfer Flow web site (transferflow.com). They make a 48 gallon replacement for your truck according to their ads.

 

I have the transfer flow 48 gallon tank and I love it.... Will never go back!
