sputter at low rpm's

the past couple days my truck sputters at low rpms. only while in a gear though. while in nuetral it never happens just pulling out and shifting if the rpms are low enough when i shift. change the spark plugs a couple of weeks ago. for some reason i dont think its a electrical problem even though my battery light is on. had my altenator checked and it fine.

I would repair the problem with your charging system, low voltage could cause many odd problems.

Wha year is your truck? I agree with Ken, if the battery light is on, something is wrong, even though the alternator checked out. A quick check is to see what the voltage is on the battery with the engine off. It should be about 12 volts plus or minus. With the engine running it should be about 14. You can check it right on the battery terminals. If it isn't electrical, I would suspect fuel problems.

i think that it might either be the fuel filter or something with the carb. because it only does it in gear not in nuetral.

An ignition problem will be worse under load also. Did you change your plug wires when you changed your plugs????

i noticed the spark plug wires and all that had been changed recent even though they're the exact fit brand. while i was looking over all of it today i did notice that one of the distributor cap screws wouldnt tighten down so i rigged something up so it would be down like a screw was in it, so thats something that has to be replaced.
