Carb work on a 300 - 6cyl, local
I have a '81 F-100 with a 300 IN6, 76,000 miles which I bought from my dad. Runs, but not great, boggs down and sputters when I accelorate hard. Everyone I talk to points to the carb, (carter 1bl) More than I wish to tackle with my knowledge and tools. I have called around, but nobody seems to want to look at or work on a carb engine. Can anyone suggest a mechanic in the NW suburbs of Mpls?

Rebuild kits are pretty easy to find for those carter carbs. But they have a common problem that can lead to severe frustration from time to time. There are I believe 4 screws that hold the two bottom halves of the carburator together. They are known for comming loose and causing vacuum leaks. Sometimes solving problems are as easy as tightening those screws.
