Talking Engine Fail Safe Mode

There had been a lot of discussion about the engine light comming on and the Engine fail safe mode. Alot of folks said the dealer could not fix it. It happened to me and my dealer fixed it. I posted the work order on a different thred, but figured I would start another so you would not have to search for it.

This is what the dealer did to correct the problem

EEC Tested
Code P2106
Disconnected all wheel speed sensors and reprogramed PCM per SSM 17272 and Ford Hotline

No more problems

Glad to hear this fixed your problem. However, Ford must not be convinced that this is a permanent solution. I had mine in the shop yesterday and the word from the hotline is that Ford engineers are still working on a fix. I was told the root problem is still under investigation. I'll mention your story next time though... it's worth a shot.

That's freakin weird!! My truck was manufactured around the same time and I haven't experienced that at all. The reason I asked is bacause i wanted to look for recalls. Good Luck!!!

How many miles are on your truck? My problem started at around 4000 miles. I'm currently at 5300 miles and haven't had any other problems. A few glitches are to be expected with a totally new design.

I have around 4800 or so. The only problem I had was the rear window rattle. I have the Lariet Screw with power rear window so I'm not sure if it only relates to that style window.

Check Fuse 16 , The ABS power Fuse. Mine was blown. It threw the 2106 code, Totally stumped the Dealer, And threw the ABS Light, the Parking Break Light, and The Wrench Light, and Engine light ALL ON. Replaced the Fuse. Every light went off. Truck runs perfect now.

I wasnt insinuating that He had or had not fixed the problem. But for 3 days I was looking through these forums as well as multiple other websites trying to determine the solution to the problem that I had. This thread was one of the most helpful in doing so, and thought that if any one in the future has this problem they will be very glad when they see my post above, especially if this takes care of their problem.

I was only tyring to help Bro

05 Ford F-150 Lariet

My Ford 05 F-150 Lariet went into failsafe mode on the freeway, had to merge to the right and emergency stop in order to shut truck completely off and then restart right away. This is the second time this truck has put me in a dangerous situation. My codes are P2104 and P2111. What do you guys think, should I replace the TPS. Replace the TB unit and then flash the program with a portable unit like an X3? Thanks for the feedback.

I am currently exeriencing these problems. Computer is throwing codes P2106 and P2135. I am looking into the replacement of the TPS as a starter. Or would someone suggest that i change TB and TPS and have the computer flashed? This is my the wifes car. I'll never hear the end of it if it leaves her stranded. From all i've read this seems to be a common problem on the 04's.
