Best Diesel Oil?

Both oils mentioned are good and meet CI-4. I prefer the Delo for the lower pour point and their choice of base stock. The Delo costs a little more but not much.
Either oil should get you to 300k miles. I personally think keeping the rpms below 3k will do more to extend longevity than oil choice.

Well, at normal shift points on my truck in Tow/Haul mode the truck turns almost 3500 RPM's. And turns about 2500 RPM's normal driving............... I don't see that RPM's will actually effect the lonjevity of the truck. I hope I don't have this truck even at the 100K Mile mark. Hope to have a newer one by that mileage mark.

AGE Mechanic,
Don't mean to be smart... and not sure if your speaking to me since I was the last thread poster, but the guy who started the thread asked about oil.... then the same guy switched questions as asked about transmission and Tow/Haul?
Obviously, the topic changed and those of us with experience or an opinion freely gave it....
Yes, your right... Tow/Haul has nothing to do with oil!!!
But Tow/Haul has everything to do with the current topic or the original poster's follow reply & question.
Have a good day (or night).
Thanks,

Hey PSDlitre40,
That's a loaded question you originally asked... do you really expect to get 1 solid consensus?
1) Talk to Ford they say Motorcraft?
2) Others say Shell Rotella?
3) Others say Delo 400?
4) Others say Amsoil?
5) Others say whatever????
Personally, it is more important to use a high quality, name brand oil of the proper viscosity and rating as required/stated in your manual. Obviously, synthetic oil has its benefits (as if we didn't already know) for cold weather starts and hot temperature running and/or towing.
My Mercedes went 150,000+ miles on good old fashined crude motor oil (Castrol is what dealer used)... unitl I wrecked it.
My 1996 Lexus LS 400 has 105,000 miles and all I have ever used is the regular oil from the delaership... they just changed to synthetic oil since they are now a Quacker State facility.
Personaly, I change my oil and filter on a regualr basis and have not been conveienced that synthetic is better for me. However, not that I have moved to Kansas City (from Florida) I may change to synthetic for the cold weather operational benefits... but now sure if the additional cost is justified??
Go with your own expereince becuase you'll get 5 - 6 different answers and still will not know??
Good Luck,
