I think we should have some introductions, I would like to know the members of the HPD, or High Plains Drifters.

As your moderator, I will go first, and remember that this is totally optional.

I'm Matt, and I am 19, and I have been on FTE for just over a year, which is when I got my first Ford Truck, the one in my signature, my dad got me hooked on these, and he has a 68 4x2 and a 72 4x4. My brother also has a 79 4x4, but I will leave that to his introduction.
In August I sporadically packed everything in the back of my truck and moved to Maine. It was an awesome four months, I would love to go back someday. I went to school in Unity, Maine, and I studied Wildlife biology.
I love to climb and hike in the Absaroka Beartooth Mountains near my home, here in Billings. I love to fish/flyfish in the Yellowstone, Stillwater, Big Hole, Bighorn, and Tongue rivers, and fish on Tongue River Reservoir, Fort Peck Lake, Emerald, Mystic, Island, Silver, and Princess lakes.
I hunt on our ranch near Harlowtown MT, for mule deer, I would like to get into some of the Western part of the state, near Dillon for some elk hunting.
I am addicted to rock/ punk rock music. I hate that new rock though, I stick to bands like AC/DC (the best band in the world), Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Boston, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Dave Matthews, Greenday, Weezer, Flogging Molly, Live, The Verve Pipe, The Doors, The Eagles, & Local H.
Right now my current project is a 302 going into a 83 Ranger that belongs to a good friend, someday it will be a helluva truck, hopefully it will be terrorizing the streets by mid july.
My intentions are to get into the performance engine building, engine rebuilding industry. I have been considering Wyotech in Laramie, but I don't know.

My name is Justin. I'm 23 years old. I grew up on a farm in central ND and now live in Bismarck. I'd love to live out in the country again someday. I own an '86 F-150 and an '88 Grand Marquis. When I get time, I like to get out of town and do photography. I've done three years of college and have given that up 'cause I have no idea what I want to do. I currently have a data entry job that is extremely boring, but it pays the bills. I hope to learn more and do more to my vehicles myself as time goes by. I enjoy working on my vehicles and hope to someday do a high output conversion on my '88's 302.

My name is Clint Bohnet, and I'm 24.

I am currently a Industrial Enginnering (1 more year! woo hoo!) student at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, I also have back an extensive background in mechanics and some electronics experince. I have also been working in the manufacturing sector for the last couple of years, and I'm currently involved in a Facilities Mangement Internship, just in case you were wondering on why I havent graduated yet.

I grew up on a farm near Watertown SD, and pretty much knew how to drive anything with wheels by the time I was 12.

My first car was a 79' plymouth volare.....ya what a pos, and drove it like a truck, I was always going places that a sane person wouldn't go, lol...

Any way when I was 15 my mom and dad were shopping for a new ford truck, of course it was a dream come true for a kid of my age to see his parents shopping for a new FORD Truck!

Well at one of the dealerships there just happened to be a 75' F100 with 50K on it, that's right only 50K. The truck was in cherry condition, Baby Blue and White 2 tone, 360 3spd auto with full time 4x4, and they only wanted 2700 for it!

Well that was my first Ford Truck, and it was a great truck, motor ran like a top, but I did have put put alot of time and a bit of cash into things like seals and bearings since the last owner rarely used it. Unfortunately for me I could not afford the 8mpg that it got, especially being my daily driver, and putting on 40+ miles a day (that's a lot for a high school student!).

Any way since then I've owned 3 Ford rangers, 92 2wd 4 popper, 97 4wd 4.0l, and a 00 4wd 4.0l.

Just last October I traded that 00 Ranger off on this F150 I have in my sig, and my wife currently drives a 00 Ford Taurus, It's actually about the only car in the world that I like to drive.

I like to hunt, fish, golf, shoot trap, ride motorcycles and basically tinker with stuff (the engineer in me).

My current project is a 78' Honda Goldwing that has a bit over 20k on it. I've pretty much got it back to stock OEM condition, with the exception of the straight pipes, and the electonic ignition that I'll be putting on it this spring (the points system is messed up).

The first GW's were never intended to be a touring bike, they were intended be the bigest baddest street bikes, the 78' GW was the fastest production bike in its day, and still is one of the fastest bikes on the road.

Howdy,my name is Dick, I'm 52 years young and have been a Ford lover since as far back as I can remember. I am a Vietnam Veteran and danged proud of my military service.

I was born and raised in Montana, but have traveled a bit..mainly in the military...go figure. Not much into traveling now but there are some stated I'd like to see, including Alaska and Hawaii for the volcanoes.

I'm a Mental Health Specialist and have worked in the field since 91 with a couple different jobs in between the years. Sometimes you need to make a change to see if you can do it or for educational purposes. My job ethic is that if you take on a job, for whatever wage, you agreed to do the job at that wage and should give 100%. If you cannot give 100% then you are in the wrong field and need to make the changes necessary to find the job you can give your all to.

I have owned numerous Fords, including two early Bronco's, a 66 and a 73. A 68 Falcon built by my brother--the fastest car Ive ever owned. A 55 Ford Panel which was given to me by my dad as he was on his deathbed. I put a 292-4bbl and dual exhaust on it, both running out the passenger side, do to the location of the gas tank. A 65 Merc Comet with a 289 - 4 speed, that I traded for the 68 Falcon. Bought a 94 Aspire new for me and the wife. Not a bad little car, but horribly underpowered on even small hills. Currently my ride is what is pictured in my sig. Hmmmmm...I know there are some more, but I'm having a brain freeze right now and can't think of them.

Currently I am awaiting word on a new job, managing a Group Home for the mentally ill. If all works out, that is where I will probably retire.

My name is Scott, 25 yrs old. I'm orig. from Kansas, moved here to WY after completing my 6 yr enlistment in the Army... Airborne! I am a mail carrier in this fair city and am enjoying the northern life.

I was a mechanic for two years while in high school, and that was when I fell in love with Fords. My first was a '66 F-100 2wd w/ a 390 HO, 4-sp. The poor old truck was falling apart, but that 390 really dusted some chebbies running stoplights in our small town. Only got beat once in our Saturday night 1/4 mile, and that was by another Ford.

I now have the vehicles in my signature, both of the old Fords are current projects. My past Fords include a '64 F-250 4X4 stepside w/ 292, two different '65 F-100 2wd both w/ I-6s, '82 Mustang coupe, '95 Aspire (not really a Ford), '98 Contour, and a '97 Explorer.

Well howdy, folks. I'm Royce, MTFlat has met me before, and some of you Billings folks may have seem me. I work in that big sporting goods store in RimRock Mall (why yes, it does suck to work in a mall). I'm hard to miss. I'm 21, at least for a couple more weeks, about 5'8", and have the most enormous sideburns you've ever seen. My company forbids me from having a beard, as I used to, so now I just grow obnoxiously large sideburns.

I concur with a previous poster regarding work ethic. Frankly, I despise my job. But I come in everyday, work my full shift or until the work is done, grimmace at my paycheck when it comes, and still give it my best. I am consistantly rated as being one of the most efficient at what I do and display unparalleled customer service. I may not like it, but it's what I signed on the dotted line for, and until I sign a different dotted line, that's just the way it goes.

I was born and raised in western WA, and moved out here only 9 months ago. As I aged I became more at odds with the locals regarding any number of issues. I'm most closely defined as a libertarian, but even that is not right on the money. Mainly I just got tired of yuppy liberals and soccer moms giving me crap for being a proud American gun owner, among other American freedoms we should be able to take for granted.
Oddly though, I find myself missing the debates with those liberals. I really enjoyed battleing it out with some crazy punk. Everyone over here agrees with me or won't bother arguing with me. It's no fun.
Oh well, at least over here I'm free to do as I darn well pease.

I tell ya, it was early April when I walked into the joint. I saw tons of guns and the place was just crawling with attractive girls. I said to myself "this is where I'm gonna work".
So I get a job there, and soon find out several things about the girls working there. Every single one of them fell into one of the following catagories, and some fell into several.
They were:
Married
Knocked-up
Underage (keep in mind I was 21, and even 18 is pushing it)
Into criminal activity (mainly gang stuff)
An unholy bi-, I mean, uh, witch, yeah, that's it...
A bit of a **** (which isn't to say that's a bad thing, but I'm generally a good kid)
And then there were a couple that were just simply out of my league. Rich folk are rich folk where ever you go, and a poor white boy like myself gets the same respect from them no matter where I'm from.
But oh well, I still hang out with some of them here and there and run into some of the others at the bars.
And there were a number of then at my buddy's Christmas party. That was a good party, except for a fluke of scheduling that had me getting up at 6:30 the next morning. There's nothing like the suckiness of hearing the next week at work about all the awesome stuff that happened after you had to go home at 12:30 'cause you had a long day beginning a 6:30 the next morning.

But at work I still get to play with the guns, so there is some good to it all.

 

Hey there, I can vouch for the law. He's a good guy. Hope Montana's treating you well. Yeah, wages aren't great, but you don't have to chew your drinking water and you don't choke on the air you breathe (except during fire season). Guess that's the price you pay for those luxuries, huh?

I'm 50 and my user name reflects the state I live in and my obsession with flathead engines. The fact that I live in Flathead County is co-incidental.

Born in Ohio, have lived in Indiana as well, I've been in Kalispell for almost 10 years and plan to retire here. I have a patient and loving wife, raised a daughter and 2 sons and now have 2 adorable granddaughters that I'd do anything for. I've been a full-time ordained minister for 25 years with general construction work filling in the gaps since I graduated highschool.

Growing up my dad owned a gas station and always did repair work in the shop at home. Good training for those times I couldn't afford to pay car repair bills and had to do it myself. Now it has become a sorta hobby. Latest major insanity was in '99 when I bought a '48 F1 ranch truck, totally disassembled it and rebuilt it as a daily driver - no show piece. Put it on the road in July '01 and drove it from Kalispell,MT to Youngstown, OH for my parent's 50th anniversary.

Found FTE in '99 while looking for parts and info on the '48. Montana pretty well defines the kind of person I am and how I look at life. I teach bowhunter education here, fish, hunt, hike, love county fairs, rodeo, etc. Latest hunting wrinkle is hunting mountain lions behind hounds.

First date with my wife of 30 years was in a '64 F100 - knew she was a keeper. My first new F100 was a '77 that replaced a '75 Mach I that I managed to roll. Had one or more Ford pickups ever since.
