Ok, I read the instructions on turning out the seat belt minder, I even printed them out so that I could refer to them, being the computer power cord won't reach out into the parking lot. The end result was this...

The ambulance showed up, they thought that I might be having a seizure, what with all of the fastening and unfastening of the seat belt.



And finally, the cops made me take a sobriety test, "cuz boy, you on drugs, doing all that weird crap?".




I have a 99 F350 PSD made in 03-98. Anyone tell me if I can turn off my seat belt minder?

 

If it is stated in your manual that you can, well then...you should be able to. Sometimes it seems that the procedure is hit-or-miss with some folks and they have to do it a number of times to get it to "take".

It worked for me first try.

 

Couldn't find it in the manual, it is one the FAQ website.

 

Hmmmm...maybe you can't turn it off on a 99.

 

go to your dealer and ask for a seat belt extension. they are free from ford by the way. plug it in and the truck thinks the seat belt is always on.

p.s. legal statement "it is a good idea to always wear a seat belt"

It never bothered me, I always buckle. However, recently my cousin was driving my rig out on a ranch and ask me how to turn the belt minder off, of course I had no clue and did not think anymore about it. After seeing the new post "Super Duty FAQ" topic, I tried the procedure and it worked first time.

Oh, I wear the seatbelt. I get in, turn on the key, let the glow plugs cycle while I am fastening my belt. I just hate listening to the damn dinging and dinging, blinking and beeping....

 

Well that dinging is different...

The Belt Minder will only sound when you do not wear your seatbelt.

If you wanna kill the buzzers and dingers then see that part of the FAQ. I will be adding pictures to better clarify that procedure later this week, hopefully.

You can't turn it off on a '99 because 2000 was the first year for the belt minder.

sounds to me like you need to get yerself yer own asylum, i mean shop, to do these things in private.

AHH HA! I was right!

 

It worked for me the first time I tried. It even worked in my 2001 Focus ZX3, which is not listed in the car manual for that car. Maybe it works in all late model ford vehicles.

What I do when I'm putzing around moving my trailer and taking my truck out on the firing range where I usually DON'T wear a seat-belt is when that stupid little dinger goes off, push the seat-belt release in for about 2 - 3 seconds. It makes mine go away until I start it up again.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Dec-02 AT 10:45 AM (EST)]Same thing works for me, push and hold the seat belt release. This makes it stop on my 2 2001s, but for some reason it will ring again on my 2 2002s

 

It works on my 02 but I have to hold the release button in longer than I did on my 01 and I have to do it when the reminder comes on while I'm driving not at start up like it was on my 01
