EOD Transmission Problem
I recently bought a 1992 F350 Crew Cab with a 351 V8, Electronic Overdrive Transmission, and 82,000 miles. It seems it's "geared low" since it changes gears at a much higher speed than the F250 I had before. There is also a slight kick between gears. I've been told that there is a speed sensor in the dash that sends the speed rate to the transmission computer and from there it tells the tranny when to shift. If the speed sensor isn't working, the tranny goes into "fail-safe" mode and changes gears based on engine speed, hence the late gear shifting. The tranny fluid level seems to slightly above the cross-hatched area when checked properly. All I'd like to know is if this speed sensor could be the culprit? Is there another easy fix? Any applicable info will help me with transmission repair guys who'll tell me I have to do major work to the tranny and not the speed sensor. Thanks.
