What's the diff between these factory stereos?

I'm thinking about hitting a local used parts store and picking up a replacement for my factory Casette radio in my 99 Ranger. I'm not an audiophile, so I don't think I need anything more than factory I don't think, and I like the idea of pulling out the old and just sliding in the "new". Lazy, I know. :-)

I'm open to aftermarket units, but I don't want to spend a lot, worry about it getting stolen, and don't want to mess with installation much (remember ... lazy).

When I search online at this parts place (www.blacklaneauto.com), I find several part #'s come back, and I'm sure there are probably several more. Does anyone know what the difference is between these part #'s or where I could find out? Is there any significance to the -BB, -AA, -AC, -CD etc? Also, is there any real significance to the F87F-, XL5F-, XL2F-, F87F, etc?

Here's what turns up when I search for CD-Player for my 99 Ranger.

AM-FM-CD (sgl disc), 24 watt (center slot), ID F87F-18C815-BB
AM-FM-CD (sgl disc), 24 watt (center slot), ID XL5F-18C815-AA
AM-FM-cassette-CD player/control, ID XL2F-18C868-AB
AM-FM-cassette-CD player/control, ID XL2F-18C868-AC
AM-FM-cassette-CD player/control, ID XL2F-18C868-AD
AM-FM-cassette-CD player/control, ID XL2F-18C868-BA
AM-FM-cassette-CD player/control, ID YU3F-18C868-AA
AM-FM-cassette-CD player/control, ID F87F-18C868-CB
AM-FM-cassette-CD player/control, ID F87F-18C868-CD
AM-FM-cassette-CD player/control, ID F87F-18C868-CE
AM-FM-cassette-CD player/control, ID XL2F-18C868-BB
AM-FM-CD (sgl disc), 24 watt (center slot), ID F87F-18C815-CA

What's the diff between these factory stereos?

just get a cheap pioneer HU from wal-mart...installation is easy and if ur THAT lazy...bring it to me (j/k)...im pretty sure ford used the standard AM/FM..AM/FM/Cass...AM/FM/CD and the "premium"...dont know if the mach came in a ranger but probaly not...also not sure of they used an in-dash changer...but go with an aftermarket, buy the wiring harness adaptor and mounting kit (if needed) and take 2 hrs to install...u get to sit on ur **** and basically do nothing (sound good enough for ya?)

Can't answer your question specifically, but I have found Ford's numbers to be cryptic. I think different suppliers get a different suffix.
