1996 F150
The cruise control was "intermittent" for a few days, and then it finally went out. I have checked the brake switch, and all connections. I have not removed the steering wheel yet.
If anyone has advice please send it to me.

1996 F150 4X4 Extended cab 153k miles. runs like new... except for the cruise.

 

Did you check your fuses Gene? I had one fall out and the cruise went bezerk. Also check your vacuum lines.

has anything else quit working?? mainly the horn or do you have an airbag light on?? it could be the clock spring under the steering wheel.

Everything is working fine, except the cruise is not working.
I checked every fuse in the box in the cab.
There is a fuse box in the engine compartment although the fuses are not marked.
One of my friends had the cruise go out on his f150 and the problem was below the air bag on the steering wheel.
The cruise that I have has no vacuum lines and is totally electronic.

i would say its the clock spring then. MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE TAKING THE AIRBAG OFF........ an ex co-worker was messed up pretty bad by one going off in his face.

 

 

Got it fixed !!!!
The cruise was not working, but everything else was ok.
I checked the fuses. fuse 13 and fuse E were ok.
I checked the Brake switch on the brake pedal. It was ok.
I checked the redundant brake switch on the master cylinder. It was ok.
I took the servo out (2 bolts and disconnect the throttle attachment). Took it to a junk yard near my house. The junk man had a 92 F150 in the back of the junk yard. We pulled the servo off, and installed it on my 1996 F150. He charged me $75. Works like new.
